Should I use KCC Primo or the databases to find journal articles?
Answer
There are some advantages to each method.
In KCC Primo:
- results can contain books, e-books, articles from a variety of databases, and other types of material. You can search a number of different collections with one search.
- the number of results can often be overwhelming, and the filtering functions are sometimes not real helpful for articles.
In the databases:
- our biggest article collections, such as EBSCO databases, can be searched. EBSCO articles are often not available in KCC Primo.
- searches can be targeted to collections and databases that make the most sense for a specific topic.
- results can be limited and filtered in numerous helpful ways.
- non-EBSCO databases have to be searched separately, which can take time if you need to reference multiple databases.
