What is a periodical, and how do I find it?
Answer
What is a periodical?
A periodical is a term for any magazine, newspaper, or other journal that is issued at regularly recurring intervals (i.e., weekly, monthly, yearly, etc.). Broadly speaking, it can include magazines, newspapers, trade publications, and academic/ scholarly/ peer-reviewed journals.
How do I find a periodical?
To find periodicals in the KCC Library, there's a search feature in the library catalog system, KCC Primo.
To access our catalog system from the library home page, under Research, choose Get Started. Next, choose "Books and Ebooks" to get to our catalog. Then click on "KCC Primo Library Catalog."
From the next page, at the top of the screen, choose the "Find a Journal" tab. You can search for the title of a specific journal or periodical, or if you are unsure of the periodical that you need, browse categories of periodicals on the left side.
Performing a search or browsing for a category of journals should take you to a list of journals that KCC has access to. Select the desired journal and click on "Available Online" to see a list of years or issues of the desired journal that KCC has access to, along with a link to the database that has the full-text of the desired journal.
