How do I request an I-Share book?

Answer

Books that KCC does not own can be requested from one of our I-Share partner libraries.

Our catalog can search for items located in more than 90 academic library partners in the state of Illinois from the KCC Primo page. Click on All I-Share Libraries located at the top of the screen. You can now search across many academic libraries in our state that participate in I-Share lending.

Searching for a title will pull up a list of items. If you see a button that says "Check for available services", click on it. Once you're signed in, it should take you to a listing of the book details. Under the "How to get it" heading, click on I-Share.

A pre-filled out form should now appear that contains the publication information for the item that you selected. Check at the top of the page to make sure your item says available for request. Scroll down and choose your preferred pickup location and institution. It defaults to the KCC Miner Memorial Library, but you can choose another location that is convenient for you. After filling out the information, click Send Request. This will send the request to the library that owns the item.

It typically takes two to three business days for requests to arrive, so please plan ahead. You should get an email in your KCC email account when the item is ready and on hold for you at your chosen location.
