What is E-Read Illinois, and what can I do with it?

eRead Illinois is an e-book system offered through the KCC library. You can use your KCC student ID card to download eRead Illinois ebooks to your tablet, computer, or other device. More than 30,000 ebook and audiobook titles are available through a partnership with eRead Illinois, which is a state run entity operated by the Illinois State Library. How do I sign in?
Sign in at the top of the screen and enter the full library card ID number, which is located on the back of your KCC ID card. You can search for ebook content in the top box or browse the various categories and genres that are available. Choose a book that you'd like to read. This displays more information about the ebook title, and you can place a hold by clicking on the Place Hold button below. If there is a wait list for the ebook, you'll see your place in line, and you will get an email when the ebook is available.
How do I view my bookshelf?
To view your bookshelf, click the menu on the top left, and go to My Shelf. This will display your number of checkouts, your holds, and anything on your wish list. From this page, you can read your ebook or return an ebook that you're done reading. Please note that you can borrow up to five items at a time. The maximum checkout period is 14 days, and you can also have up to five items on hold at one time.
How do I read and download e-books?
To read an ebook on your computer, in your My Shelf, click on the Read button below the title. You can change the font size, add bookmarks, and display other options for ebooks, such as searching the text of the book on the left-hand side at the top. You can also jump to different sections of the book under the table of contents. In My Shelf, you can download a title for offline access by choosing More Options. From the main menu, jump to a desired section of the book by clicking on the chapter. To place a bookmark, click on the bookmark icon at the top right of the page.
To read an ebook on your phone or tablet, download the Boundless app from your app store, and follow the same directions as above.
