How do I view a tutor's feedback on the paper I submitted?
Answer
When you submit a writing assignment for review by the tutors, they will return it to you with feedback. Usually this feedback comes in the form of comments on the document, and sometimes the settings on your word processor need to be adjusted so that you can view the comments.
An important note for all students, regardless of what program you use to write: you will need to download the updated version the tutor attaches to their reply. Feedback will not be shown on the original version of your document. Usually these will have the file names changed to include something like "with-feedback" or "With Tutor Comments" at the end.
For Microsoft Word (offline)
- Open the updated version of the document in your Word app.
- Go to the Review tab on the top.
- In the middle of the Review tab, there is a group of option called Comments.
- Press the "Show Comments" button. There will be a dropdown menu with two options, Contextual View and List View. Either will work.
MIcrosoft Word (online)
- Go to your online version of Microsoft word through the Office 365 menu on your my.kcc.edu page.
- Upload the updated version of the document you received from the tutor. The upload button is above your list of files, towards the right side of your screen.
- Open the file.
- Go to the Review tab on the top.
- Click the "Show Comments" button.
Google Docs
- Upload the updated version of the document you received from the tutor. The upload option is in the "Open File Picker" menu, accessed through the button on the top right that looks like a folder.
- Open that file.
- Go to the View menu on the top.
- Click "Show Comments" so that a check mark appears next to it.
All of these strategies should work to make sure comments are visible on your document. If you have any further trouble, please don't hesitate to reach out to a tutor for more help.
